Last night was Disney’s D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim, California, featuring reveals from the company’s upcoming theatrical and streaming slates. However, Kingdom Hearts IV stole the show with new gameplay footage featuring Pixar’s Coco and the announcement of a new original anime series. Here is a breakdown of the biggest reveals from last night’s showcase.

Kingdom Hearts IV

In a showcase packed with Marvel and Star Wars news, it was Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts IV that stole the show! Fresh gameplay revealed a world based on Pixar’s Coco, the news was a big step up from the Nintendo Direct news in June— the game has been confirmed that it will be released in late 2027. Kingdom Hearts IV will launch simultaneously for PC via Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Another big announcement was the reveal of an original Kingdom Hearts anime that is set to premiere on Disney + and the Disney Channel. Disney is developing the series in partnership with game creator Tetsuya Nomura and the creative team at Square Enix.

Zootopia 3

One of the biggest animated films in 2025 is taking to the sky as Walt Disney Animation Studios announces Zootopia 3. The newest film is set to feature characters from past films and introduce birds. Zootopia 2 made box office history on its opening weekend, becoming the fourth-biggest global opening ever at the time and the largest global launch of all time for an animated film. It was also nominated for best animated feature at the Academy Awards. It is available to watch on Disney +, Digital, Blu-ray and DVD.

Walt Disney Animation Studios announced a brand-new new film that asks the question “Having a rich history of stories that celebrate inspiring mentors and their aspirational students, what if the next mentor stunk?” Meet Flip (voiced by Kieran Culkin), he was chosen to be his village’s next great mentor and is assigned his first student — a literal ball of clay born that very moment, named Mushi. So, like all inspiring mentors, Flip runs away in the middle of the night, only to discover that Mushi is inescapable and pure chaos, and now out in the wild, Flip must keep Mushi alive on a journey through a fantastical forest. The film will debut in theaters in November 2028.

Hexed

Our next announcement is on the magical side, as we get two new cast members for the upcoming film, HEXED. Joining cast will be Jodie Foster, who will be voicing as Queen Celeste and Walton Goggins will be voicing as Beef Roger, a three-eyed green cat who will be befriending Hailee Steinfeld’s young teen protagonist who has witch powers. Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins join the voice cast consisting of Hailee Steinfeld, Alan Tudyk, Rashida Jones, Stephen Fry, CeeLo Green and Tracey Ullman. HEXED opens in theaters on November 25th, 2026.
