June is observed as Pride Month in many countries, commemorating the Stonewall riots (also known as the Stonewall Uprising) that began on June 28, 1969, in New York City. The month is marked by celebrations of LGBTQIA+ visibility and recognition of contributions by members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Red’s Nerd Den salutes and honors the artists and creators in the LGBTQIA+ community. We need to continue standing up for what is right and the importance of representation. Tremendous progress has been made, yet in recent years certain politicians have pushed policies that alienate communities based on race and sexual identity, often under the banner of patriotism and ‘Making America Great Again.’ These actions are misguided and do not reflect what truly makes a country great. Let’s keep celebrating the success and creativity of these outstanding creators.
