Walt Disney and Sony Pictures stand-off has killed off Marvel Studios involvement in future Spider-Man films.
In a Deadline exclusive feature that revealed that the recent standoff between The House of Mouse and Sony Pictures has caused a rift between the two in future Spider-Man films, Marvel Studios Kevin Fiege will not be involved in any further Spider-Man Films due to the two companies inability to reach a new deal that could have given the former co-financing stake going forward. How long has this dispute been going on? Apparently, for the past few months, the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Fiege and Marvel’s involvement with the Spider-Man Universe.
This comes at a time when Kevin Fiege’s latest two new films broke the all-time records- Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing film of all time while Spider-Man: Far from Home surpassed James Bond: Skyfall to become the highest-grossing film for Sony Pictures.
