Sony acquires Insomniac Games

Sony Interactive Acquires Insomniac Games, becoming the 14th Studio to join the Company.

Gamers were shocked to learn that Insomniac Games, well known for Ratchet and Clank, Spyro and their newest successful hit video-game Marvel’s Spider-Man will be joining the Playstation family.

The Hollywood Reporter recently posted an article stating the reason why Sony Interactive decided to buy the Developer, highlighting the Company’s longstanding relationship with the Developer, it dates back to the 90s and their series Spyro The Dragon. Insomniac Games has been an independent company but also had been one of the most profitable, and widely well known as one of the successful Game Developers in the world today. Their recent hit was Marvel Spider-Man; selling over three million games worldwide within its first three days, and selling an estimated nine million games worldwide since its initial release last September. Sony acquired the studio in its entirety, Insomniac Games will join the ranks of Worldwide Studios, alongside such developers as Horizon Zero Dawn maker Guerrilla Games and Dreams and Little Big Planet studio Media Molecule; making Insomniac the 14th Studio to join the Sony Interactive Family.
