Listen Up, Hero! The Biggest Announcements from the Zelda Direct

Nintendo recently streamed two back-to-back Directs recently, the first one we will be focusing on is the Legend of Zelda’s 40th Anniversary. The presentation focusing heavily on the upcoming remake of Ocarina of Time, but offered a variety of other updates on the live-action Zelda film, a slew of new merchandise, live attractions, and more.

The Legend of Zelda (Live-Action film)

The coverage began with the upcoming live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. It hasn’t received a trailer yet, but it will have an original story that will be based on the many stories from the series. Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that he and the Zelda development team are involved in the film and said that the film’s lack of a subtitle will be apparent once you see it. Latest info about the film will be shared on the Nintendo Today app first going forward.

The confirmed cast members so far consist of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, Bo Bragason as Zelda, Uli Latufeku as Ganondorf, and Dichen Lachman as Impa. There were also newly confirmed actors who will be joining the film will be the late Sam Neill, Severance‘s Dichen Lachman and The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Yvonne Strahovski.

A Brand-new Zelda themed History board will be on display at the Nintendo Museum

Next up, a new history board chronicling the Zelda series will be displayed at the Nintendo Museum. Starting now. Limited-time Zelda 40th Anniversary Tickets for Nintendo Museum will be available to purchase. Also, on November 5th, a new photo-op themed around the Master Sword will be available. Finally, The Super Family Restaurant (which will feature a Link statue and other Nintendo characters) opens inside the museum this Fall.

New Zelda Merchandise

New Zelda themed merchandise was revealed during the recent direct, ranging from  brand-new LEGO set focusing on Link and Epona, a new Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 bundle, and a new Ocarina set that offers a playable Ocarina (Nintendo store exclusive). Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Concert

One of the most captivating events in Video Game music is preparing to hit the road for a new Concert tour. The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Concert is set to begin touring Tokyo next January with dates across Japan. Meanwhile, a North American tour will kick off in February in Chicago with Concert tours already planned for Europe (April 3rd, 2027 in London), and Australia (May 13th, 2027 in Melbourne).

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The final part of our Zelda Direct takes us into the remade world of Ocarina of Time. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma presented the first gameplay footage, showcasing new actions like free jumping, rolling into a sprint, motion-controlled aiming, full camera control, and improved quick-item selection. The preview featured updated locations including Kakariko Village, Hyrule Field, and Hyrule Castle Town, along with fully-voiced cinematics highlighting characters like Saria and Mido. A new feature called Threads of Time was also introduced to help track current objectives and story milestones. Additionally, players can play the ocarina by humming or playing actual instruments into the Switch 2 microphone. The game launches for Switch 2 on November 5th.
