The Super Mario Bros. Movie Successfully Passes $1 Billion At The Global Box Office

As of today, the animated adaption based on the Super Mario Bros Video Game Franchise from Universal, Illumination, and Nintendo has grossed $490 million in North America and $532 million internationally. It is the fifth film to cross the $1 Billion threshold, following Spider-Man: No Way Home, Jurassic World Dominion, Top Gun Maverick, and Avatar: The Way of Water.

The Super Mario Bros Movie debuted on April 5th and generated $204 million in the first five days of its release, notching the biggest opening of the year and the second biggest debut ever for an animated film.

Last weekend, it THWOMPED its competition for a third weekend in a row. Now, in a new report from Variety, it continued its stay at No. 1, keeping away newcomers such as the Finnish War Drama, Sisu, Big George Foreman, and Are You There God? It’s me, Margaret. While Those ticket sales, were down just 33% from the weekend prior, it was still enough to keep the newcomers away.
