Amazon Orders Animated Series Adaption of Snyder and Jock’s Wytches Comic Book Series

The Entertainment News Website, Variety has learned that Amazon has ordered an animated series adaption based on Image Comics’ Horror Comic Series, Wytches.

Wytches, written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Jock, tells the story of the Rook Family, who recently moved to the remote town of Litchfield, NH, to escape the haunting trauma and hope that they could start over. But something waits for them in the woods beyond the town, something evil. It watches from the trees, it is Ancient and hungry.

Both Comic Creators Scott Snyder and Jock will executive produce the series alongside Plan B Entertainment, Project 51 Productions’ Kevin Kolde, and Amazon Studios.

“Driven by the pairing of Scott and Jock along with our partners at Plan B and Project 51 Productions, ‘Wytches’ fuses nail-biting horror and evocative drama while unearthing the dark lore surrounding an ancient burrow of witches, Given the haunting and intimate nature of Scott and Jock’s well regarded comic series, we are looking forward to delivering their creative vision to our global audience and expanding our growing roster of animated series.”

Snyder shared his excitement for the announcement and discussed his and Jock’s work on the book and how grateful they were for a chance to adapt their book into a series:

“‘Wytches’ is possibly my most personal work, It’s all about the monsters that dwell beneath the surface of things, both literally and figuratively. I’ve been intimately involved with this animated series from the start, and I can honestly say that I love this show as much as the book, if not more. The animation brings the incredible art by Jock to life, and the episodic format expands the world of ‘Wytches,’ taking the characters and mythology to terrifying new places. Jock and I are deeply grateful to Plan B Entertainment, Kevin Kolde, and Amazon Studios for believing in ‘Wytches’ and giving us a chance to make this show dark, personal, twisted, and very special.”

Scott Snyder, Writer

While there isn’t a release date or any other information on the series, Wytches was published by Image Comics in October 2014 and ran for Six Issues until March 2015. In 2018, it also inspired a One-Shot story titled, Bad Egg: Halloween Special.
