It’s Time To Press Play. We have a ton of new Nintendo News to cover. Take for example, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to be the best-selling video game on the Nintendo Switch, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet became the fourth best-selling Pokemon Game of all time.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to be a dominant force in Nintendo’s Video Game Library. During Nintendo’s recent investor relations portal, the kart racing game drifted past 50 Million Copies Sold, making it the first game to do so on the hybrid console and marking a milestone for the Mario Kart Franchise. It tallied up to 52 Million Copies sold on the Switch Console, combined with its Wii U Version has increased it to 60.4 million copies. Making it the best-selling Mario Game of all time, overtaking the original Super Mario Bros game, which was released in a pack-in-title for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Next up from the Investors Relation Portal, Splatoon 3 made waves once again, this time selling over 10 million copies, making it the fastest-selling Splatoon Video Game ever. It is considered to be one of Nintendo’s strongest IPs, especially in Japan, where half of the sales were domestic. As of December 31st, Splatoon 3 has sold 10.3 Million Copies, 6.32 million of which were from Japan. And the rest of the world made up to 3.8 million copies in total.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have proved that the Pokemon Franchise is another strong IP in Nintendo’s Arsenal. Within a month and a half, the games have already passed 20 million copies, surpassing Pokemon Let’s Go! And Pokemon Arceus. As of December 31st, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have sold 20.61 million copies.

Already becoming the fourth best-selling Pokemon Generation Video Game of all time. It is sitting behind Pokemon Gold and Silver’s lifetime sales, not including Pokemon Crystal. During the same time frame, Pokemon Sword and Shield have sold 16.06 million copies and is currently at 25.68 million copies sold and the second-best-selling game in the franchise behind the originals.

Nintendo also has a lot to celebrate. The Kyoto-Based Gaming Company has sold over 120 million units worldwide. It surpassed the lifetime sales of the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Sony’s Playstation 4. The company also revealed that 122.55 million units of the Nintendo Switch have sold as of December 31st. Ahead of the switch are the Nintendo DS and Sony’s Playstation 2, making Nintendo’s newest console the third best-selling console of all time. It was also revealed that 994.430 million software sales have occurred for the platform, making it the best-selling console of all time for the Company.

Finally, it was announced that there would be a new Nintendo Direct coming up on February 8th, 2023. Set to premiere at 2 pm PDT/5 pm ET. It will be a 40-minute stream and will be focusing on the Nintendo Switch’s new games that will be released in the first half of 2023.
