It’s certainly a big year for Eiichiro Oda and the One Piece Fandom, recently we had a chance to get a look at the Big Mom Pirates. And now, it has been announced that Crunchyroll and Toei Animation announced plans to distribute the film outside of Japan, with both subtitled and dubbed versions to screen in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this fall.
One Piece will take center stage at this year’s Anime Expo in LA during the July 4th weekend, and Toei Animation plans to hold a series of special events to celebrate the new film. It also includes an exclusive one-night event with the two-time Grammy Award-Winning Singer, Steve Aoki. There will also be a special panel at Anime Expo featuring One Piece Producer Shinji Shimizu, English dub actors Brandon Potter (Shanks) and Ian Sinclair (Brook) and ADR Director Anthony Bowling.
Goro Taniguchi makes his return to the Straw Hat Crew, it is the first time since 1998, as the director of One Piece Film Red. Taniguchi is best known as the Director of Code Geass and having previously directed the 1998 One Piece: Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack! short for the Jump Super Anime Tour ahead of the TV anime premiere in 1999. Tsutomu Kuroiwa returns from ONE PIECE FILM GOLD to write the screenplay for ONE PIECE FILM RED. Toei Animation is producing an anime film with Eiichiro Oda, and the film will premiere in Japan on August 6th, 2022.
