After a huge show at Anime Japan, Aniplex shared a special anniversary video, an extended look back at all the big moments from the series in a 16-minute video that takes fans from Aincrad to Project Alicization and then back to Aincrad again.
The memorial event, Sword Art Online Fulldive will be held on November 6th, the in-universe date the Sword Art Online game releases, at the Tokyo Garden Theatre. Most of the main cast will be making an appearance at the event. The newest film, Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night is set to be released this fall.
Sword Art Online is an adaption of the Progressive Light Novel Series written by Reki Kawahara, The novel series launched in 2012 as a revised retelling of Kawahara’s original Sword Art Online novels. The story depicts Kirito’s journey through the floating Aincrad castle from the beginning, floor-by-floor. Yen Press is publishing the Sword Art Online: Progressive novel series in English, as well as two manga adaptations.
Sword Art Online is available to watch on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation. Kind of creepy when you think about it, we’re in the same year as Sword Art Online. Here’s hoping our year gets better!
