If you’re in Japan and a fan of the Supernatural/Psychological Horror genre then you’re in luck, according to a new report from Comic Natalie, A24’s The Lighthouse will be getting a short synopsis manga illustrated by Legendary Horror Mangaka Junji Ito. The Manga will be included in the theater pamphlets.

Junji Ito commented about the film, praising the performances of the actors and the intensity of its gloomy atmosphere. Also noting that in his synopsis manga, he wanted to reproduce the film’s use of light and shadow. A reminder for fans that Ito has been nominated for two awards in this year’s Eisner Awards, in Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia for Remina, and Best Writer/Artist for his work on Remina and Venus in the Blind Spot. The Lighthouse will be premiering in Japan on July 9th, 2021.

“From Robert Eggers, the visionary filmmaker behind modern horror masterpiece The Witch, comes this hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.“
