Here we are, the 93rd Annual Academy Awards and things were looking great until the announcement for nominations went live. Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, there weren’t any Anime Films at this year’s Oscars. The following Animated Features were nominated this year:
- Onward, Pixar
- Over the Moon, Netflix
- A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Faramageddon, Aardman Animations
- Soul, Pixar
- Wolf Walkers, Cartoon Saloon
In January, the Oscars Best Animated Feature Category got a huge boost from International Animated Films, six anime films were included in the International Animated Features List. The field assumed to be the smallest field of entries in years got a huge awakening when the size of the race has doubled, going from Thirteen to Twenty-Seven. Thirteen Days ago, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed that the following Anime titles were confirmed eligible for consideration at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards.
- “Demon Slayer: The Movie: Mugen Train”
- “Earwig and the Witch”
- “Lupin III: The First”
- “ON-GAKU: Our Sound“
- “Ride Your Wave”
- “A Whisker Away“
