Last month the Oscars received a huge boost from International Contenders, today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed on Thursday that the following Anime titles have been confirmed eligible for consideration at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards.

On a related note, Two video game films were also included in the Academy Awards Consideration list, and those two films were Monster Hunter and Sonic The Hedgehog. The 93rd annual Academy Awards will be held on April 25th, delayed by two weeks due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg offered his awards forecast for the category, putting Earwig and the Witch as a “major threat” (to the frontrunners), while Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train, ON-GAKU: Our Sound and Lupin III THE FIRST are “possibilities.” However, did not list any of the anime among his frontrunners for the category.
