Thor Vol. 1: Goddess of Thunder Review

In my newest review, it takes place after the events of Original Sin, The Watcher, Uatu was murdered and with his death came every secret that he had kept from the Universe including the secret that Angela was Odin’s Daughter and assumed dead after the Asgard War with the Angels of the Tenth Realm. Later, Nick Fury whispers in Thor’s ear an unrevealed secret which causes Odinson to lose the ability to lift Mjolnir and deemed him unworthy; now, unbeknownst to Odinson, there is a new Wielder of Mjölnir and she became Thor, Goddess of Thunder!

Written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Russell Dauterman, we’re put on one of the craziest, action-packed thrill ride the Ten Realms has ever seen! We witnessed the return of the Allfather, Odin, Queen Freyja became the All-Mother and had been ruling over what used to be known as Asgard which is now Asgardia. While it has had some critics and let me tell you, they had fun poking fun at those critics which are hilarious moments. While this volume collects Issues One through Five, it is a good starting point for new readers or readers that are fans of Jason Aaron.

Speaking of Odin, it’s fascinating to see the Allfather angry and trying to figure out who this mysterious new wielder of Mjölnir and what caused him and his son to be deemed unworthy is priceless. But the artistic team behind this series is doing fantastic too, Russell Dauterman, Colorists Matthew Wilson, Jorge Molina, Letterer Joe Sabino with each issue and page the detail and hard work is shown.
