“Your wish has been granted!” LEGO GROUP announced a brand-new partnership with Toei Animation, the iconic animation studio behind anime franchises such as ONE PIECE, PreCure, and Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball. Through this collaboration, the LEGO Group will bring the action and adventure of the Dragon Ball universe to the LEGO® portfolio for the very first time this year, with more to come in 2027 and beyond.
To begin this new partnership, the LEGO GROUP has unveiled its first LEGO Dragon Ball Product: the 1,764-piece LEGO Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku (11390) building set. Builders and Dragon Ball fans will be able to recreate the powerful moment when the Mighty Shenron rises from the seven Dragon Balls, with a young Son Goku riding his Kintoun at the heart of the scene that celebrates one of anime’s most enduring heroes.
This new LEGO set is inspired by the Dragon Ball tv anime, the LEGO design team studied animation frames and classic poses, while experimenting with building techniques and structural solutions that to authentically translate Shenron’s distinctive silhouette and scale into LEGO elements. The result is a dramatic display piece that showcases Shenron’s long, looping form, flowing scales and sculpted details.

This set feels like a wonderful tribute not only to the Dragon Ball franchise, but also to Akira Toriyama’s iconic storytelling. As described in the official press release, the base of the model uses seven 2×2 bricks to represent the Dragon Balls — a simple yet perfect detail that anchors the entire scene in the mythology that’s shaped generations of fans. Builders can put the model together with confidence thanks to the LEGO Builder app, which offers detailed 3D digital instructions that let you zoom, rotate, and track your progress as you go.

DRAGON BALL (ドラゴンボール) was written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, with its 519 individual chapters collected into 42 tankōbon volumes. Drawing inspiration from the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West and blending it with elements of Hong Kong martial arts films, Toriyama created a story that quickly captured readers.
The manga was later adapted into two landmark anime series — Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z — produced by Toei Animation. In North America, Viz Media licensed the English-language release of the manga, helping introduce the series to a wider Western audience. Over the decades that followed, Dragon Ball expanded far beyond the page and screen into films, video games, merchandise, and more, growing into one of the largest and most influential media franchises in the world.
