There were new updates regarding the anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate‘s Haikyu!! (ハイキュー!!) The first included a new concept visual of the upcoming anime film HAIKYU!! VS The Little Giant— which is scheduled to be released in 2027, new footage for a special anime project titled HAIKYU!! Bakemono Tachi no Iku Tokoro (Where Monsters Go), along with a teaser visual and school visuals, has also been released.
Fans familiar with the Spring High Volleyball Tournament’s quarterfinal match between Karasuno High and Kamomedai High know the stakes, but you can feel the intensity radiating from this concept visual for HAIKYU!! VS The Little Giant. An intense showdown hinted between Shoyo Hinata and Kamomedai’s star player Korai Hoshiumi (Best known as “The Little Giant!“) HAIKYU!! VS. The Little Giant serves as the official sequel film following the events of HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle.
HAIKYU!! Bakemono Tachi no Iku Tokoro
Best way to describe this next Haikyu!! Project in my opinion is “The Battle of the Titans.” Kotaro Bokuto of Fukurodani Academy and Wakatsu Kiryu of Mujinazaka High School are going face-to-face in the new anime special titled HAIKYU!! Bakemono Tachi no Iku Tokoro (Where Monsters Go). The special will broadcast on Japanese TV in 2027.
Accompanying the anime special news was three new visuals and a promotional video. It included the main visual hyping up the showdown between Kotaro Bokuto and Wakatsu Kiryu, and two new visuals promoting Fukurōdani Academy’s setter Keiji Akaashi supporting Fukurōdani Academy’s Ace— and Mujinazaka High’s Usuri Mitsuru preparing to support their School’s Ace and Captain.

HAIKYU!! (ハイキュー!!) was written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020, with its chapters collected across 45 tankōbon volumes. Viz Media licensed the manga in North America, publishing physical volumes starting in 2016, while Shueisha began digital English simulpubs on Manga Plus in January 2019. The series spawned spin-off manga including Kaito Nishi’s comedy series Let’s! Haikyu!? and Kyōhei Miyajima’s Haikyubu!!, alongside a special February 2024 one-shot centered on the Karasuno High vs. Nekoma High rivalry.
Beyond print, the franchise expanded into an acclaimed TV anime series by Production I.G running from 2014 to 2020, followed by the two-part Haikyu!! Final sequel film project. Its immense popularity also launched a radio drama featured on TV Tokyo’s VOMIC program, multiple video games across mobile and console platforms, and a long-running series of hyper-projection stage plays.
