To me, my X-Men! Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige capped off an electrifying D23 Entertainment Showcase with unveiling a star-studded cast of the upcoming X-Men Movie. Director Jake Schreier was joined onstage by star Sadie Sink, who made her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The trio welcomed Sink’s new co-stars to the stage, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Saving the best for last, was Adam Driver, who will be making his villainous MCU debut as Mister Sinister.
Fiege added that there’s more X-Men casting news to come, but he couldn’t wait to introduce this first group of actors. For staff, we have Jake Schreier , who previously directed Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts will be directing the untitled X-Men Film. Beef creator Lee Sung Jim and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo have been brought on to pen the script. The untitled X-Men film will be released exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2028.

Who are the X-Men?

For those who aren’t familiar with the X-Men, here is a brief look at the team. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the X-Men first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). Although cancelled in 1970 due to low sales, the series was revived in 1975 by a new creative team—including writers Len Wein and Chris Claremont, alongside artist Dave Cockrum—and quickly grew into one of Marvel Comics’ most recognizable and successful franchises. In the Marvel Universe, mutants are humans born with a genetic trait called the X-gene, which grants them natural superhuman abilities that generally manifest during puberty. Because of these differences, mutants face widespread prejudice and discrimination, making social commentary on bigotry, justice, and politics a core element of X-Men stories. Over the years, the team has defended the world against various threats, including villainous mutants like Magneto, human bigots, supervillains, mystical forces, extraterrestrials, and evil artificial intelligences.

The X-Men franchise quickly grew, influencing various solo titles and team books, such as the New Mutants, Excalibur, and X-Force. It would also inspire multiple forms of media including the 20th Century Fox live-action film series, multiple animated shows, live-action shows, multiple video games, numerous novels, motion comics, soundtracks, and merchandise.
