In November 2022, Power Rangers icon Jason David Frank passed away at age 49. Best known as Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he stepped away from the franchise to focus on projects like his final film, Legend of the White Dragon. Which arrives in theaters August 28, for one week only.
Legend of the White Dragon follows Erik Reed (Jason David Frank), a former superhero living as a fugitive for three years. Forced to don the mantle once more, he must protect his city and family from a powerful evil.
While the suits pay homage to the Power Rangers and Tokusatsu, the film stands in its own universe and features several Power Rangers alumni—including Jason Faunt (Power Rangers Time Force), Cerina Vincent (Power Rangers Lost Galaxy), and Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers Megaforce)—alongside David Ramsey, Mark Dacascos, Andrew Bachelor and the late Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill).
AD: Tommy Oliver may have settled down from the life of being a Power Ranger. But he finds out that he will have to take up the mantle once more, in “POWER RANGERS: GREEN!” Pick up the first issue now!

Directed by Aaron and Sean Schoenke with a screenplay by Alex Kellerman, Legend of the White Dragon began as a passion project crowdfunded on Kickstarter. After an initial shortfall in 2019, a second campaign launched in March 2020 raised over $508,000—surpassing its goal in just 11 days. Filming started in 2021, with additional photography in 2023. After several delays, the film is finally set for a limited theatrical release on August 28.
