It was the announcement readers have been waiting for. Shueisha announced in this year’s 30th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine that Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter will resume serialization in the magazine’s next issue on June 29.
Shueisha confirmed that the 39th volume will be released on July 3rd, 2026— priced at ¥572 (tax included), the 208-page volume continues the story aboard the massive Black Whale ship, which is bound for the dangerous Dark Continent. In the ongoing Succession Contest arc, various factions—including Kurapika and members of the Phantom Troupe—pursue their own agendas amid the high-stakes royal succession battle. It is the first new collected edition since Volume 38 released on September 4, 2024.
After the tragic passing of fellow manga legend Akira Toriyama in March 2024, concern for Yoshihiro Togashi’s health grew among the fanbase. Many regularly visited his personal social media account hoping for positive updates, while flooding his posts with messages of love, support, and well-wishes for his recovery.
