Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 Releases on July 3rd — First New Volume in Nearly 2 Years!

The moment Hunter x Hunter fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Shueisha has officially confirmed that Volume 39 will release on July 3, 2026 — the first new tankōbon in nearly two years!

The upcoming Volume 39 is the first new collected edition since Volume 38 released on September 4, 2024. Priced at ¥572 (tax included), the 208-page volume continues the story aboard the massive Black Whale ship, which is bound for the dangerous Dark Continent. In the ongoing Succession Contest arc, various factions—including Kurapika and members of the Phantom Troupe—pursue their own agendas amid the high-stakes royal succession battle.

After the tragic passing of fellow manga legend Akira Toriyama in March 2024, concern for Yoshihiro Togashi’s health grew among the fanbase. Hunter x Hunter made its debut in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 1998 and remains an ongoing series to this day. As of September 2024, it has 38 collected tankōbon volumes. The series has sold over 84 million copies worldwide and is widely regarded as one of the best-selling and most influential manga of all time. It has inspired a prequel spin-off titled Kurapika’s Memories, two anime adaptations, OVAs, two animated films, as well as CDs, musicals, stage plays, video games, and extensive merchandise. In English, Viz Media handles the manga and releases chapters on the Shonen Jump app, while Shueisha also publishes the official English chapters on the Manga Plus app.
