The wait is over: the official Street Fighter trailer just dropped, bursting with 90s arcade nostalgia and clever nods to the games. The standout? It’s gloriously goofy in all the right ways, staying true to the franchise’s over-the-top charm.

The trailer makes it evident that the story will revolve around Noah Centineo’s Ken Masters and Andrew Koji’s Ryu, who appear estranged and in need of reconciliation. It’s hardly a shock — Ryu and Ken have served as the emotional and narrative anchor for much of the Street Fighter franchise. They were the only playable fighters in the very first game in 1987 and have remained central characters throughout the series. The new trailer also showed off other characters, like Chun-Li (Callina Liang), Guile (WWE Champion Cody Rhodes), and Vega (Orville Peck). As far as the music goes, the trailer also featured music from “What’s Up?” From 4 Non Blondes, and an unreleased version of Tupac Shakur’s “Ambitionz Az a Ridah.
Another fun detail IGN pointed out in their trailer breakdown is the strong similarities between Noah Centineo’s Ken Masters and Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat II. Both are world-class fighters turned celebrities who seem past their prime — yet each has plenty left to prove when they step back into the ring.
