‘I’m No Longer Agito’: Shoichi’s Haunting New Poster Joins the Agito – Psychic War Campaign

With the premiere of Agito: Psychic War (アギト -超能力戦争-) now only 15 days away, Toei is ramping up the hype with a fresh wave of character posters. The one that stands out the most is a haunting new visual of Shoichi Tsugami, who stares directly at the viewer with the emotional declaration: “I’m no longer Agito anymore.” The translucent, fading effect on his body powerfully symbolizes the loss of his legendary powers — raising the central question of the film: humanity’s evolution, or the true worth of the soul?

A week ago, the official Agito: Psychic War Twitter account also shared a brief but emotional clip of Shoichi Tsugami speaking with Sumiko Ozawa (played by Toko Fujita). In the scene, Shoichi quietly declares that he is no longer Agito, revealing the profound loss of his powers. The past week, there have been new visuals that have been part of Toei’s marketing strategy of the new Agito film, which includes three character posters and seven other visuals that include quotes from the movie.

Before we move on to the other visuals, one important detail stands out: Agito: Psychic War (アギト -超能力戦争-) was originally planned as a standard V-Cinext anniversary project, but it was upgraded to a full theatrical release. In an April 2026 Animate Times interview, executive producers Shinichiro Shirakura and Hideaki Tsukada explained the decision. They felt that Kamen Rider Agito — the highest-rated Heisei-era Kamen Rider series, with a still-unbroken average viewership of 11.7% — deserved something far more ambitious than a typical direct-to-video spin-off. Shirakura in particular admitted that tackling the story in V-Cinext format felt heavy and limiting, and the team’s creative motivation simply wasn’t rising. So they decided to switch to a theatrical format and confront the project head-on, determined to properly honor the original cast and the fans who have waited 25 years. The upgrade gained real momentum after Tsukada mentioned the V-Cinext plans during a company meeting, which ultimately convinced executives to greenlight the larger production. It was previously confirmed that ORANGE RANGE wrote and will be performing a brand-new song titled “Dramatic Ordinary” for the film’s theme song.

Half-frozen to death, half-burned to death… Two contradictory deaths were etched into a single corpse. An “impossible crime” beyond comprehension, one no one had ever seen, born from the rampage of those who wield psychic powers.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Armed Unit for Unidentified Lifeforms—commonly known as the G Unit—moved to solve the case. Young member Ruriko Aoi challenges the psychics wearing the latest special reinforced armor, G6, but is forced to retreat in the face of their overwhelming power. G Unit Administrator Sumiko Ozawa is certain. To resolve this situation, they need the help of Makoto Hikawa. However, he was now in prison for a certain crime.

Hikawa’s absence reminds Ozawa of Shoichi Tsugami, a man who once fought against the Unknown with a mysterious power known as “Agito.” However, Shoichi has already lost that power.
