FREEZE! There was new information on the upcoming Tokusou Sentai DekaRanger 20th Anniversary film Fireball Booster. Two new cast members were recently added, along with a new trailer and visual.
Joining the cast are Mei Kurokawa (Kaze no Haruka, Watashi wo ryokan ni tsuretette, Kamen Rider 555: Paradise Lost) as Raenjo, a sword-wielding alien, and Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass, Kingdom, Assassination Classroom) as Marple, a silver-haired alien who crashed onto earth. The rock duo, Psychic Lover making their return to perform the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger theme song.
It was confirmed that the original cast would be returning to reprise their roles, it would also be Tomokazu Yoshida’s first acting role since his retirement from the entertainment industry in 2018. As for the staff, veteran tokusatsu director Katsuya Watanabe (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Gekisou Sentai Carranger, Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger), writer Naruhisa Arakawa (Choujin Sentai Jetman, Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger, Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger), and Saburo Hatte credited for the original work. The film production took place in the Kochi Prefecture, thanks to Tomokazu Yoshida’s support and being a member of the city’s regional revitalization cooperation team, it served as an effort to raise awareness and tourism, according to Mantan Web.
Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger is the 28th series in the Super Sentai franchise and the 16th entry in the Heisei era, following other Heisei Sentai Heroes such as Mirai Sentai Timeranger, Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger, Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger, and Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger. Dekaranger made its debut in February 2004 and ended in February 2005 with 50 episodes, 6 movies, and 2 specials. The official website for the new film has confirmed the release of the top ten episode playlist voted by the fans will be available on Toei’s Special Effects YouTube Channel and the Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: 10 Years After special from now, until the release of the 20th Anniversary film which will debut on June 7 for a limited theatrical release. It will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 13, Pre-Orders are available on Play-Asia.
