What was that!? Quick! Something is moving behind that curtain! Why, it’s the new teaser trailer and posters for the upcoming film, Five Nights At Freddy’s.
After being left in the dark for eight years, the curtain has been pulled back to reveal the first teaser trailer for the live-action adaption of Scott Cawthorn’s Five Nights At Freddy’s. It gave viewers a glimpse into Blumhouse’s newest horror film.
The new trailer gave fans a sense of familiarity with how the gameplay mechanics were incorporated into the movie, with a first look at Josh Hutcherson as a security guard. Cawthorn first announced the film adaptation in 2015, which got fans excited and talking. Behind the scenes, however, it was a rocky road. Warner Bros acquired the rights for the film, which led to another announcement after it was silent for two years when Cawthorn would tell fans that the project went back to square one. After losing directors, Jason Blum announced that he would be adapting the project through his Blumhouse production company in 2017.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is directed by Emma Tammi (Into the Dark and The Wind) and is produced by Jason Blum and Scott Cawthon. Bea Sequeira, Russell Binder, and Christopher H. Warner serve as Executive Producers. The film also stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard, as well as animatronic designs and technology by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Based on the video game franchise created by Scott Cawthorn, Five Nights at Freddy’s was first released in 2014 and quickly rose to massive popularity. There are a total of nine video games that take place in locations connected to the main game, which include spin-off games, a novel trilogy, and an anthology series.
It has become a tradition for Universal Pictures for a studio to have a day-and-date release for their horror line. This marked the third time Universal Pictures has set up a hybrid debut for a Blumhouse production in October. For example, Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022) landed on Peacock the same day they debuted in Theaters. Five Nights at Freddy’s is set to premiere in theaters and on the studio’s streaming service on October 27th, 2023.
