Recently, the physical edition of Cuphead was released in Japan. But the best part about the release was a special illustration drawn by renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano.
Yes, that’s right. Renowned Artist Yoshitaka Amano has applied his unique art style to Studio MDHR’S hit 2D run-and-gun action game. Amano is best known for his work on Vampire Hunter D and Final Fantasy, and the studio shared a special behind-the-scenes video of Mr. Amano drawing the illustration.

In the video, Yoshitaka Amano drew some of the most prominent characters from the platformer. Included in these pieces are the Devil, Cuphead, Mugman, and Ms. Chalice. The studio wanted to do this collaboration as a way to pay homage to many of the classic games that helped inspire the creation of Cuphead. The work created by Yoshitaka Amano will be included on the covers of the music CDs, which will be bundled with the first run of retail copies. Cuphead is available now for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and XBox One.
