There has been an update on a previous article I wrote regarding Desert Bus For Hope. The crew at Desert Bus raised $1,133,895 and Bussed 166 hours!

That’s right, Desert Bus For Hope has accomplished its mission in Six days. It followed a similar goal from last year when they raised $1,188,193.00 and bussed 167 hours. The team issued a statement regarding the goal they reached and hinted at Desert Bus for Hope coming back next year.

What is Desert Bus for Hope?

Started in 2007 by the internet sketch comedy group LoadingReadyRun, Desert Bus for Hope combines video games and tedium to benefit charity. Desert Bus is the world’s longest-running internet-based fundraiser and has raised more than $10 million for Child’s Play over its eighteen-year history. The viewers direct the action and talk on chat, challenging the Desert Bus players to sing, dance, and make fools of themselves in front of thousands of viewers. Desert Bus also offers things such as Craft-A-Long, Silent Auctions, and Live Auctions. What is Desert Bus?

Desert Bus is a mini-game from the never-released Sega CD game Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors. Challenging the player to drive a listing, unreliable, virtual bus on an endless, eight-hour-long strip of highway between Tucson, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada, it is widely regarded to be the worst video game ever made. With the game being about endurance, volunteers keep the audience entertained.
