This weekend was the premiere of the Live-Action Film Adaption of Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers on Japanese Television. And the newest announcement was that it would be getting a sequel.
The first trailer for Tokyo Revengers 2 premiered after the broadcast of the first film. Takumi Kitamura will once again play protagonist Takemichi Hanagaki, with Tsutomu Hanabusa returning to direct. The film is set to premiere in Japan in 2023.
The Tokyo Revengers Manga currently has over 65 million copies in circulation worldwide. It was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in March 2017. And since its debut has been collected into twenty-eight tankobon volumes and was licensed by Kodansha USA for English audiences in 2018 for a Digital Release, while Seven Seas Entertainment released a print omnibus edition in May 2022.
This Yanki Sci-Fi/Fantasy title won an award in the Shonen Category at the 44th annual Kodansha Manga Awards. It received an anime adaption in 2021, and the second season will air in 2023.

Takemichi is later at a train station when his luck couldn’t get worse he is pushed in front of a train, where suddenly gets transported 12 years into the past, where it is 2005 and he is a Middle School Student.”
