This might be an odd place to start reviewing the Kamen Rider Series, but here we go! Today we’re taking a break from the Manga Reviews and jumping into Kamen Rider Zero-One. An interesting fact about this series, it was the first to debut during the Reiwa period and the thirtieth series in the Kamen Rider Franchise.
Instead of reviewing the whole series, we’ll be reviewing the series through Arcs, starting with the first arc titled ‘Secret Maneuvering of Metsuboujinrai.net‘.
Our story begins with a young man named Aruto Hiden. Aruto has wanted to become a comedian. But fate had other plans for him, Aruto suddenly found himself being appointed as the new CEO of HIDEN Enterprise, a company that specialized in AI Technology after the untimely death of his grandfather. Despite his initial disinterest, Aruto changes his mind after witnessing MetsubouJinrai, a cyber-terrorist group whose initial goal was, by the will of the Ark, to bring about the extinction of humans by hacking Humagears and transforming them into Magia.
The first arc was thrilling. It was a great way to start a new series with a bit of a twist to the role of a protagonist, the CEO of a Company that specializes in AI Technology, fighting Cyber-Terrorists who are also Humagears that turn their kind into Magia by hacking them. It perfectly sets up the story, where it not only gives viewers a look into what kind of hero he will be but also what Aruto will be fighting for. Each episode dove into the psychology of humagears, for example, what would their purpose is, how beneficial they would be to mankind, and finally, how AI Technology affects Human Society.
While the CEO tries to keep the peace between humans and humagear with the help of his Humagear Secretary, we’re introduced to A.I.M.S. A military task force who are in pursuit of rogue humagears such as Metsuboujinrai.net. Agent Isamu Fuwa and Agent Yua Yaiba are similar in some ways, for example, they are serious, and dedicated to their work. The difference is Fuwa’s gruff demeanor, and stemmed rage towards Humagears, due to the Daybreak Town Incident. And Yaiba is extremely cunning, and quick-witted, able to manipulate both Aruto and Isamu to suit her means.
Next, we’re looking at the Rogue Humageared Terrorist Organization, Metsuboujinrai.net. this fascinating group of villains began small, but we learn more about them with each episode. Their involvement in the Daybreak Town Incident, their use of Zetsumerisekeys to transform hacked humagears into Magi, and the Satellite Ark deemed humanity as a lost cause. Horobi and Jin are two villains who were written well, one cold and manipulative, the other who is autonomous and had a nature that changed with the wind. Truly a deadly force to be reckoned with.

Closing out the review with my final thoughts, with this being the first Kamen Rider Series I have reviewed, I was very impressed with the first arc overall. The action scenes were incredible and well-choreographed, the Costumes were beautiful and fierce, and the Henshin Sequences were dazzling to watch. I recommend you watch this series on Shout Factory’s Tokushoutsu channel and Tubi. Until the next review for the story arc, be sure to stay tuned and check out my other reviews as well.
