Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen Dominate December’s NPD Bookscan Top Twenty Adult Graphic Novels

Big Changes in the Top Twenty once again, last month it was Rachel Smythe’s Webtoon Series Lore Olympus Volume One taking on the Top Two spots, but now the webtoon series dropped down to No. 6 and No.7. Speaking of Webtoons, Chugong and Dubu’s Solo Leveling has disappeared off the chart this month.

Now here are the bigger changes in this month’s NPD Bookscan Chart were Five Volumes of Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen and Four Volumes of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man took over the chart. Both Shonen titles had new volume releases in the same month and Jujutsu Kaisen’s Prequel was set to premiere overseas on Christmas Eve. As for Chainsaw Man, a new trailer premiered at Jump Festa. The trend continued on this month’s New York Times Best Sellers List.

Finally, it is the first time in years that the Manga Series, My Hero Academia did not make it in the Top 20, at one point it used to take up the top twenty but it is possible as ICv2’s Brigid Alverson pointed out that the possibility that the gap between volumes has widened: Volume 29 came out in September, and Volume 30 won’t be out till March.
