Certainly one of the biggest pieces of news today, DC Comics and Writer Tom Taylor announced today that Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s son Jon Kent has come out as Bisexual, taking the young hero in a bold new direction starting in Superman: Son of Kal-El Issue #5, which will be available in Comic Shops on November 9th. This coming after another DC Hero coming out back in August, Tim Drake, who also came out in Batman: Urban Legends Issue #6.
Like his father, he fell in love with a reporter, Jay Nakamura, which started as a friendship then becoming romantically involved in the pages of SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #5, the creative team behind the series had to say about this bold new direction for Superman:
“I’ve always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea, Superman’s symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics.”

DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee also weighed in on this new revelation, describing his excitement about Tom Taylor and John Timms’ Story:

We can have Jon Kent exploring his identity in the comics as well as Jon Kent learning the secrets of his family on TV on Superman & Lois. They coexist in their own worlds and times, and our fans get to enjoy both simultaneously.”
