Netflix made the announcement yesterday that the Spin-off Series titled Bright: Samurai Soul, based on the 2017 Original Sci-Fi Film Bright, which starred actor Will Smith would be premiering on October 12th. Taking place in Japan from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period, depicting Izou, a ronin who lives as a bouncer, and Raiden, an orc assassin, who throws themselves into a fierce battle to protect an elf girl named Sonya from their common enemy.

In the Japanese Dub, we have Izou voiced by 21-year-old kyōgen actor Yuki Nomura in his first voice acting role, Yuki is the grandson of Mansuku Nomura, a living national treasure. Daisuke Hirakawa plays the role of Raiden, and Shion Wakayama voices Sonya. For the English Dub, we have Simu Liu voicing Izou, Fred Mancuso voicing Raiden, and finally, Yuzu Harada voicing Sonya. Kyohei Ishiguro will be directing the film, known for works such as Your Lie in April, Children of the Whales, and most recently, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. Michiko Yokote will handle the screenplay, ARECT, a Hokkaido-based 3DCG company that previously produced CG visuals for Attack on Titan: The Final Season and ZOMBE LAND SAGA REVENGE, is handling the anime production.
