UPDATE: There is an update regarding the release of the newest season, it was rescheduled for release in April 2022.

During the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo that took place in September 2020, Crunchyroll confirmed that the popular Isekai Anime Series The Rising of the Shield Hero would be returning for a second season with a third season also confirmed, set to be released sometime in 2021.
Now Crunchyroll is back again, this time confirming that the Second Season will be released in October 2021, Masato Jinbo is taking over directing duties with a bunch of the staff returning for the Second Season. It will be available in the following countries:
- North America
- Central America
- South America
- Africa
- Europe
- Oceania
- The Middle East
- CIS
The Rising of the Shield Hero is based on the hit light novel series by Aneko Yusagi, which tells a tale about Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, who finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he find a way to overturn this desperate situation? The First Season is available on Funimation and Crunchyroll.
