It certainly a first for this reviewer, reviewing an Ecchi series and one that has just recently finished its first season. Monster Girl Doctor is adapted from a Light Novel series by the same name, written by Yoshino Origuchi and art by Z-TON, the story takes place in a town called Lindworm, where monsters and humans coexist, Dr. Glenn Litbrite and his lamia assistant Saphentite “Sapphee” Neikes run a clinic that takes care of Monster Girls, while it does show a colorful world with fascinating Monsters and Monster Girls. A Reminder for fans of Monster Girls and the Monster Girl Doctor Series, Crunchyroll has an English Dub and it is currently on the Seventh Episode.

As mentioned, it is an Ecchi Fantasy Series that has had comparisons with another fan-favorite Monster Girl series, Monster-Musume but unlike Musume, the series focuses on medical issues as well as Monster Girls, there are believable issues that the girls have faced mixed in with certain comical moments that provide a good chuckle, but also cringe-worthy moments. The animation studio that produces the animation is Arvo Animation, known for it’s two other anime productions “We Never Learn: Bokuben” and “We Never Learn: Bokuben 2,” they blend 2-D Animation with CGI, while it is standard animation these days the character designs and Monster ideas were one of the best things about the series so far that were created by Kato Hiromi, an animator and character designer who has been involved in various other anime.

The music is handled by TO-MAS, it blends in with the background but to be honest, I couldn’t find a fault with it. One of the negative factors about this series was Doctor Glenn, a great doctor with his heart in the right place but terribly bland and can be unlikeable, dull as a rock, and absolutely oblivious to love and his partner’s crush on him; while most of the character growth and development is saved for the Monster Girls.

Final Grade:

Rating: 6.5 out of 10.
