A new announcement straight from Funimation, in a new Press Release, Funimation and Aniplex will be having a panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, the topic? Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It will be exploring what has happened in the series so far and tease a few things to expect from the new film: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba- Mugen Train.
This isn’t the first time Funimation and Aniplex have teamed up for something this monumental, Funimation will be releasing the film in North American and Canadian Theaters. A Reminder for fellow Demon Slayer fans, Anime fans, and Comic Book Readers and Collectors, this year’s New York Comic-Con will be a Virtual, Digital Event, the Panel will be streamed on The Official NY Comic-Con YouTube Channel.
“It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.“Series Synopsis
Update, October 9th, 2020: Confirmed by both Aniplex and Funimation’s New York Comic Con Panel, the Demon Slayer Film will be released in Japanese theaters on October 16th; this will also be receiving IMAX screenings, the first Japanese film to screen in IMAX Theaters. Moviegoers will receive a volume of “Rengoku 0” which is limited to 4.5 million copies. Original manga creator Koyoharu Gotouge drew the manga, which shows Rengoku’s first mission. The film will be released in North America in early 2021.
