The Clown Prince of Crime has come home.

“Commissioner, Death has come to your Big City.”

Horror Legend John Carpenter is ready to take on another character that induces Horror where ever he goes, and for whoever he works with, No it isn’t the Scarecrow I’m afraid (and terribly disappointed about). It is the Joker!

Carpenter, will be co-writer and collaborating with Writer Anthony Burch who was the writer for Borderlands 2. Fans rest assured, the duo has collaborated on a comic before; the 6 issue mini-series Big Trouble in Little China: Old Man Jack. In this Villain of the Year tie-in, The Joker does not like to be upstaged, whether by Lex Luthor or anyone! In the announcement by DC, this is how it is described:

“Human-alien hybrid, Lex Luthor has made his appeal to the world, asking its citizens to embrace doom and give in once and for all to evil, humanity’s true nature. In exchange, he will grant them the tools to ascend to their ultimate selves. While some DC villains (and heroes) are willing to hear what “Apex Lex” has to offer, the Clown Prince of Crime isn’t going to wait around until Lex gets to him. This puts The Joker on a mission to get his swagger back in a world gone bad by out-badding everyone else, proving that the greatest evil is always the one that leaves them laughing.”

John Carpenter, DC Comics

John Carpenter said in a DC Comic Press Release that “The Joker is the greatest villain in Comics, I’m proud to be reunited with Anthony on this project.” Although Joker being regarded as the Greatest Villain in Comics is debatable, this will be a One-Shot tie-in and consist of 40 pages, it will cost $4.99 and will be released on October 2nd, 2019. One of the other tie-in Comics for Villain of the Year includes one with Neal Adams’ involving Ra’s Al Ghul that will be released in August.
