If you live in China and haven’t seen Spirited Away, then there is good news coming your way!
One of the most breathtaking masterpieces from Studio Ghibli is finally coming to China, making it the second Studio Ghibli film to premiere in China; My Neighbor Totoro premiered last December and earned 173 million yuan (about US$25.75 million) making it the second highest earning Japanese film in China, however when 2018 ended it only earned 159 million yuan (about US$23.67 million). It has been 18 years since Spirited Away debuted in Japan, and originally it was the highest grossing Anime Film worldwide until Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name took the Number One Spot. Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away is coming to Chinese Theaters on June 21st. Meanwhile GKids and Fathom Events will be showing Spirited Away as part of the ‘Studio Ghibli Fest 2019’ for the US Theaters.
