There is good news regarding AidaIro’s Toliet-bound Hanako-kun manga series. It has resumed serialization in the September issue of Monthly GFantasy, which was released in Japan on August 18.
The series was on hiatus since the issue released in November 2025 while its creator, AidaIro underwent a unspecified medical treatment, marking its return after 10 months. AidaIro shared a special illustration on their official Twitter account, thanking fans for their continued support— and to celebrate the manga’s return.
“This month, Hanako-kun 🎊㊗️resumes serialization👻🎉! Thank you for your continued support starting this month!”

Toliet-bound Hanako-kun (地縛少年花子くん) is a manga series written by Iro and illustrated by Aida (AidaIro). It was first Serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy since June 2014, the series has been collected into 25 tankōbon volumes as of late 2025, alongside a two-volume spin-off, After-School Hanako-kun, both licensed in English by Yen Press. Its popularity has led to a multi-season anime adaptation produced by studio Lerche—including a 12-episode first season in 2020, short-form spin-off episodes, and a second season in early 2025—as well as a stage musical that premiered in Japan in 2021.

Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!
