Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO in Ikebukuro will reopen on August 24 after a fatal stabbing forced its temporary closure in March. The popular store inside Sunshine City has been renovated and will introduce strengthened safety measures and entry restrictions upon reopening.

In new notice titled “Notice of Reopening of Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO and Pikachu Sweets by Pokémon Cafe,” shared on the official Pokémon website stated that Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO and Pikachu Sweets by Pokémon Cafe, both of which had been temporarily closed, will resume operations on August 24, 2026.

The store will be strengthening measures to ensure staff safety while creating an environment where customers can visit with peace of mind. The entry restrictions will remain in place for a period of time after the Reopening.
