One of the big topics in the comic book community lately has been Batman‘s politics, and we’d probably be here all day arguing over it, but a man dressed as the Caped Crusader was spotted in Santa Clara City California on January 27th, scolding authorities for their inaction in relation to the possible deployment of ICE officers at the upcoming Super Bowl.
A livestream meeting took place with the Santa Clara City Council, Santa Clara Stadium Authority and other officials when a man dressed as Batman took to the Podium, beginning to scold the officials while outlining his concerns with the possible deployment of ICE at this year’s Super Bowl event. The concern coming from the recent killings by federal agents in Minneapolis in January. Santa Clara Leaders were already having to prepare as fear of ICE’s possible presence at the event.
‘Batman‘ also argued that the city council should have taken action to prevent “hundreds of masked men” from coming to Santa Clara, and asked that no city resources be provided to the agency. Addressing concerns about Immigration enforcement, Santa Clara Police Chief Cory Morgan said the department would not “confirm, deny, or speculate about” the actions of federal agencies. Corey Lewandowski, an adviser at the Department of Homeland Security, said in October that ICE officials would be at the Super Bowl.
