Following a similar routine from when Kamen Rider Kuuga celebrated its anniversary last year, Tokyo MX will be airing Kamen Rider Agito: Project G4: Director’s Cut at 6:00 PM JST on Thursday, January 3rd. This will be the first time that the director’s cut version of the 2001 film will be broadcast on terrestrial television. Kamen Rider Agito: Project G4 was the summer Movie for Kamen Rider Agito, double-billed with Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger: The Fire Mountain Roars.
A fun fact about Kamen Rider Agito was that it was not only the eleventh installment in the Kamen Rider series, but he was also the second Heisei Era Rider. The series also represented the 30th Anniversary of the Kamen Rider franchise. The series began as a joint-collaboration between Asatsu-DK and Toei, and it was shown on TV Asahi from January 28, 2001, to January 27, 2002. The series was an indirect sequel to Kamen Rider Kuuga, it was set in the same universe, but it was the first Kamen Rider series not to have an ending sequence.
Since his television debut, Agito has had two specials, a movie, a novel, video games, his own manga (including the appearance in Toshiki Inoue and Hitotsu Yokoshima’s Kamen Rider Kuuga manga), numerous crossover appearances across other Kamen Rider shows, Super Hero Taisen films, and a stage event. You can watch the first two episodes of Kamen Rider Agito on the Toei Tokusatsu World Official YouTube Channel.

Kamen Rider Agito was broadcast in 2001 as the second installment of the Heisei KAMEN RIDER Series.
This was the first work to feature the now-standard “multiple Kamen Riders,” and it was also the precursor to the “handsome hero boom” in which actors gained popularity with their untransformed faces. It can be said to be the “origin” of the series that laid the foundation for the series to this day.
An exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of this legendary work will begin in Tokyo in April 2026, and will then travel to four major cities: Fukuoka, Osaka, and Nagoya!
2026, the first year of the True Agito, is finally upon us!
