The Nara Prefecture has a city full of rich history, and known for its beauty, and that is Kashihara. It is also known for key attractions such as the Kashihara-jingu Shrine, and the well-preserved Edo Period merchant town known as Imaicho. But one of the tourist attractions we’re focusing on today is a collaboration between Capcom and Kashihara, which added Street Fighter’s E. Honda to its promotional campaign.

According to a new report from Nikkei, a new bronze statue was erected and installed in the square in front of the central exit of Kintetsu Kashihara-Jingu-Mae Station. Including the pedestal, it stands 1.6 meters above ground. E. Honda (Edmond Honda) is the fourth Street Fighter to take part in this promotional collaboration, joining other fighters such as Ryu, Chun-Li, and Ken. The cost for this new statue was 8 million yen, and it was constructed with donations from companies and individuals who supported the project. An unveiling ceremony was held on November 29th, the guests included representatives from the donating companies and children attending a local sumo dojo. The mayor of Kashihara City, who was also in attendance spoke about how the city will continue to build statues of the characters in the future.
The City first began to install statues of the characters in 2023 at tourist spots in the City. Ryu was the first character statue to be installed, placed near Yamato-Yagi Station. In 2024, Chun-Li was installed in front of the city hall branch office near the station, and Ken was installed near Kashihara Shrine. Here is a fun fact, the founder of Capcom, Kenzo Tsujimoto is from Kashihara City, the city signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the company in 2010. The City is working to revitalize the town by erecting a bronze statue and installing manhole covers with designs depicting Ryu and his friends.
