Medalist was written and illustrated by Tsurumaikada and was first serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Monthly Afternoon in May 2020 and is still an ongoing series. As of June 2025, the series has been collected into thirteen tankobon volumes. A year later in March, Kodansha USA announced that it would license and publish the title for English Audiences digitally, and it would be three years later that it would get a print release in March 2024. The manga won in the Best General Manga category in last year’s Shogakukan Manga Awards. It would also win Best General Manga at Kodansha’s 48th annual Manga Awards in May 2024. The chapters are simul-published on Kodansha’s K-Manga app.
