Summer may be heating up, but it’s about to get Paranormal as the TV Anime, DanDaDan will be making its television debut, thanks to Adult Swim’s Toonami Programming Block, starting July 26th.
It’s no surprise that it finally made its way to Toonami, joining the ranks of other popular Shonen Anime such as Dragon Ball Daima, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Blue Exorcist, Naruto, and One Piece.
Yukinobu Tatsu’s DanDaDan made its debut in Shueisha’s digital manga magazine, Shonen Jump Plus in April 2021 and is currently ongoing. As of July 2025, each chapter has been collected into 20 tankobon volumes. Viz Media publishes the manga and its chapters for English audiences, and Manga Plus also publishes the chapters for English audiences. Animation for both seasons was handled by Science Saru (Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken, Devilman Crybaby, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). The TV Anime’s first season premiered in Japan on October 3 on TBS and MBS’s Super Animeism TURBO programming block. Netflix began streaming the anime worldwide on October 3 at 25:00 JST (effectively, October 4 at 1:00 a.m. JST). You can stream Season One and Season Two now on Crunchyroll and Netflix. The first season is available now on Blu-ray.
DANDADAN follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult freak. The two of them start talking after Momo rescues Okarun from getting bullied. However, an argument ensues between them – Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. To make the mutual deniers believe in each other, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital known for its UFO sightings, and Okarun goes to a tunnel that is said to be haunted. In each place, they encounter overwhelming paranormal activity that transcends comprehension. Amid these predicaments, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to challenge the paranormal forces! Their fateful love begins as well!?
