After constant whispers of rumors concerning Doctor Who being canceled, BBC puts those rumors to rest with a new trailer and cast list for the upcoming second season of Doctor Who.
Ncuti Gatwa makes his return to the Tardis in style, being joined by a new companion (who doesn’t want to be a companion) named Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) as they journey across the universe to return Belinda to Earth, but a mysterious force blocks their path followed by new enemies and ferocious creatures. Let’s take a look at who will be joining the second season:

It was also confirmed that Anita Dobson will be returning for the second season as Mrs. Flood. As for guest appearances, the return of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), Shirley Anne Bingham (Ruth Madeley), and UNIT, who appear to have continued their tradition of hiring the Doctor’s companions and recruited Ruby Sunday. As for staff, Russell T. Davies returns as the series showrunner, along with four new writers: Juno Dawson (Author of This Book is Gay, and Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, Creator of the Doctor Who Scripted Podcast: Doctor Who Redacted), Inua Ellams (Author of Candy Coated Unicorns & Converse All Stars, and The Actual), Pete McTighe ( The Pact (BBC), The Rising (Sky), A Discovery Of Witches (HBO), and Wentworth (Fox) ), and Sharma Angel-Walfall (Supacell (Netflix), Renegade Nell (Disney+), A Town Called Malice (Sky) and Noughts & Crosses (BBC) ). Season Two is set to premiere on April 15 on BBC iPlayer and Disney Plus.
The Doctor and his new companion will also be on an adventure in two new novels coming up, the first novel is titled Fear Death By Water, written by Emily Cook (organized Doctor Who: Lockdown!), and Spectral Scream, written by Hannah Fergesen (Author of The Infinite Miles) Both titles will be released on hardback and audiobook (Digital and CD) on May 29th (June 10 in the US according to Amazon). Spectral Scream will be read by Michelle Asante (who had a brief role in In the Forest of the Night) and Fear Death by Water will be read by Susan Twist (best known to fans as the omnipresent Susan Triad in Ncuti Gatwa’s first season as the Doctor).
