My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next Unleashes Dark Might

While I was disappointed to learn that Deku and the heroes weren’t facing Mankind (Mick Foley), and the new villain’s name wasn’t All Fright, My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next got a short 30-second trailer showcasing the main villain Dark Might.

The new trailer briefly shows Dark Might, who looks strikingly similar to All-Might, even sharing the same voice actor, Kenta Miyake. As a DC fan, it brought so many callbacks to villains who masqueraded as heroes. Such as Eobard Thawne (Reverse Flash) in The Return of Barry Allen, The Flash: Finish Line, Hank Crenshaw (Cyborg Superman) in The Death and Return of Superman, and Thomas Elliot (Hush) in Batman: Hush.

The film will take place in the same time frame as the upcoming seventh season, which will be premiering in May. Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, will serve as the general supervisor and original character designer. BONES will be handling the animation production, with Toho Co. Handling the film distribution. Accompanied with the new trailer, the staff and cast were included in the announcement. The film will premiere on August 2nd in Japan.
