Crunchyroll to Bring The Concierge to North America

Crunchyroll announced earlier today that they would be bringing The Concierge to North America in a new partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

According to the new announcement, Crunchyroll acquired the rights to the film from Production I.G in North America, teaming up with Aniplex and Sony Pictures Entertainment for a 2024 release window.

The film is an adaptation of Tsuchika Nishimura’s The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store, a Senien manga that was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Zōkan magazine from February 2017 to November 2018, the chapters were collected in two tankōbon volumes. The film first debuted in June at the Annecy International Film Festival and premiered in North America at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec this past summer. For those attending the Animation Is Film Festival in Los Angeles this month, The Concierge will screen the competition. Tickets are on sale now and you can pick them up here.

Akino is a trainee concierge at the Hokkyoku Department Store, an unusual department store that caters exclusively to animals. Under the watchful eyes of the floor manager and senior concierges, Akino runs around to fulfill the wishes of customers with a myriad of needs and problems in her pursuit to become a full-fledged concierge.
