There was big news coming from the One Piece Staff Twitter Page. The One Piece manga will be taking a one-month break. The reason? It is because Eiichiro Oda will have to take time off due to Eye Surgery.

According to Oda and his staff, he will be taking time off to have the surgery and recover. The next chapter, however, will be released as usual, but after that, it will be on hiatus until July 18th, which will feature the following chapter in the 33rd issue of this year’s Weekly Shonen Jump.

In his message, Oda wrote that like Franky, he would undergo eye surgery to be able to shoot laser beams from his eyes. On a serious note, he also mentioned that his eyes have gotten worse lately, with his vision becoming blurred and interfering with his work. So after talking about it with the Editor-in-Chief, Oda is going on leave to “come back with better eyesight and to be able to beam!”
