In a surprising announcement, Paramount Pictures has moved up the premiere date for the upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Accompanying the announcement was a new poster and a trailer release date set for next week.

According to a new report from Deadline, the CG-animated TMNT film has been moved from Friday, August 4th, to Wednesday, August 2nd. Its theatrical release follows major studio titles, such as Warner Bros Barbie and Universal’s Oppenheimer. Both share the same date, July 21st. Along with Disney’s Haunted Mansion (July 28th), it comes two days after the premiere of Warner Bros Shark Sequel MEG 2: The Trench (August 4th). The new trailer will also be released on Wednesday, May 31st.

Mutant Mayhem stars Nicholas Cantu (Leonardo), Micah Abbey (Donetello), Brady Noon (Raphael), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Jackie Chan (Splinter), and Ayo Edebiri (April). For villains, it features Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), Rose Byrne (Leatherhead), Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman), Post Malone (Ray Fillet), Natasia Demetriou (Wing Nut), Ice Cube (Superfly), Maya Rudolph (Cynthia Utrom), John Cena (Rocksteady), and Seth Rogen (Bebop). Here is a fun fact about one of the stars involved in this film, John Cena also portrayed another TMNT Villain in the Nickelodeon Animated Series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Baron Draxum. The film is directed by Jeff Rowe, one of the directors of Netflix’s The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Kyle Spears, a storyboard artist on The Mitchells vs. the Machines.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is a reboot of the film series, and it is based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Characters created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
