Recently, Anime News Network first reported that the preview pages of Shotaro Ishinomori, Toshiki Inoue, and Hitotsu Yokoshima’s Kamen Rider Kuuga did not reflect the actual finished product. And is different from the final product.
In Titan Comics Statement, the company mentioned that they listened to Fan Discussions online regarding the recent release of both Kamen Rider Kuuga Volumes One and Two, wanting to address the points that were raised and provide clarity. They appreciated the fans for bringing it to their attention.
Titan Comics went on to say that the preview pages for both volumes were provided in April and were translated for marketing purposes, wanting to get the artwork out for the fans as soon as possible. They mentioned the possibility that the pages are still circulating on the web. The actual translation for the printed books (approved by Titan and licensors) was worked on by two highly respected translators in the business.
Before we go into an updated statement from Titan Comics, let’s get a look at Stonebot Comics’s Statement. Stonebot mentions that they partnered with Titan for publishing and distribution, along with Stonebot’s sister company from Argentina, with which they share resources (which included the publication of Kuuga in Spanish. The promotional pages were translated from Japanese to English by their joint team, which uses the style of the Argentinian release. It was later decided to go in a different direction to make the book more similar to current manga localizations in the market.
Today, in an updated statement from Titan Comics, they announced that they would correct any identified errors and textual inconsistencies for all digital and subsequent printings of Volumes One and Two. They are currently implementing extra internal editorial processes to ensure that the books are of the highest possible quality and accuracy.
Titan will continue to work closely with their translators and Kamen Rider brand experts on the series to improve all aspects of production. The publisher also values and appreciates the work every individual has done.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Volume One will be available in bookstores on March 23rd, 2023. And the television series is available to stream.
