The Second Volume of the Popular Weekly Shonen Jump Series, Akane-Banashi is a Success, Will Be Getting a Reprint!

There is great news coming from the Akane-Banashi Official Twitter Page. The second volume will be getting a reprint, according to the new announcement, the sales for the second volume have been selling very well, and received a reprint order from Shueisha.

In a new Sales Report from Oricon, In the week of August 1st through the 7th, Akane-Banashi’s Second Volume sales were at 22,474 copies sold so far. On the final day of the Shoseki Rankings, the Rakugo-themed manga held steady at No. 23, in the Top Twenty-Five.

The second volume of Akane-Banashi went on sale on August 4th, and it was wrapped around with a sheet of paper promoting it and the recommendation of Hideaki Anno, the acclaimed writer/director of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shin Godzilla, and Shin Ultraman. In June, when the first volume was released, it was also wrapped with a sheet of paper promoting the new release, this time with the recommendation of Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece.

Written by Yuki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue, Akane-banashi tells the story of a teenage girl who aims to reach the highest rank in rakugo, partly to avenge her father, who was expelled from the profession six years earlier. The rakugo in this series is supervised by professional rakugoka Keiki Hayashiya.
